Twenty-nine travelers from the Seattle, WA area, on an ALKI Tours excursion, arrived at the ranch in the morning of July 20, 2008. Most of them had heard about alpacas, but hadn’t seen one up close.
Following Richard's “Alpaca 101” presentation, visitors were invited into the “females with cria” pasture. They were amazed at how calm and friendly the alpacas are. Phedra, our PR girl in training, performed beautifully. The eleven crias – one only 4 days old – were a hit, especially with the youngest traveler, 6-year old Mathew.
After a stop for shopping at the Alpaca Store, and a quick lesson on the process of turning raw fleece into yarn, the group departed satisfied with their newly acquired knowledge about the wonderful world of alpacas.
